Hi Maxi.

It is certainly possible to become Elite, but it is VERY hard.

It is a matter of getting points by confronting enemies. I kept the original rank system (in fact the variation where not all the ships give you the same ammount of points found in the c64 version):

Remember this game is originaly open-ended, so in absence of new mission packs, it is a matter of exploring and enjoying. Of course you can get tired of it eventualy, so better leave it and get back whenever you feel like it.

It can consume a good part of your life to get to the Elite Rank... (not that much, actually, I have friends who did that in a few months, and I am sure to have read about people trying to visit every system on every galaxy, and such things).

Cheers

That is actually a good idea Maxi. The test can cover (if you think so) any general aspects of the game, how to start, how to develop, how to efficiently use equipment or any advice for starters, as well as the mission pack.

With open-ended games this is the only way to go, as there is no real finishing of the game. Maybe it could be interesting to share playing experiences, but little else.

Although some simply don't like this kind  of games, I wanted to keep the spirit of the original game, which is also what made it special for many in the first place, together with the sensation of inmersion in a vast universe, where little is predictible.

Cheers

OOuucchh I won too ! thanks Chema for this adventure ! perhaps after missions, the game could be completed by expensive upgrades for the ship or to earn money to buy another ship, etc... a way to become an elite

Congratulations SyntaxError! So you too finished the mission pack I guess (you got the "Mission Pack Finished" message)... Mmmm I think I'll make it harder next time :)

BTW Could you share with us an screenshot about your status after finishing, so we can see the level, credits, etc.?

And I would like, if possible, to hear anything about the game. What are your feelings, what you think works well, what doesn't, etc... as well as what you think about missions (which one was more entertaining, interesting, difficult, boring...). I think that kind of feedback would be of outmost interest for me and anyone playing.

3 people have finished the game so far... Very nice :)

Hi again.

Maybe you all know about this, as I posted it on the Defence-Force forums, but just in case...

1337 received the Oldschool Gaming Game Of The Year Award, and all the latest Oric projects are mentioned in their 2010 year review:

I think this is great news for the Oric community, as we are getting an important visibility in the retro world. And if the new project from Twilighte is as good as the previews I've seen, 2011 will be another great year.
